Portsmouth club hopeful soccer players will get wages after another payment is delayed
Portsmouth's players are still waiting for their wages after the soccer club missed payments for the third time this season.
Portsmouth is last in the Premier League at 4-14-2 and was forced to negotiate a short-term loan to overcome cash-flow problems. The club has told the players' union the already-postponed payments should be made Wednesday.
Because of tax owed, government officials have filed a petition against the club, which has had three different owners since the start of the season. A hearing is scheduled Feb. 10 but Portsmouth is contesting the case.
Because of the debts, the league has imposed a transfer ban on the club.
